Places Visited

July 2014 – Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Colorado

Before we left for Yellowstone, we spent an afternoon at Arapaho Race Track watching the horses run. Fortunately, none of us are big gamblers so it ended up costing less than a movie and popcorn!

The next day, we visited the Denver Botanic Gardens to view the Chihuly Glass display. Chihuly is an artistic genius. We’ve seen his art displayed at The Frist Center for the Arts and Cheekwood Botanic Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee. We also viewed a small private collection at a gallery in Golden, Colorado. The display in Denver is familiar and beautiful.

2010 – Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Nashville, Tennessee

Cheekwood is a 55-acre botanical garden and art museum located on the historic Cheek estate. Originally built as the home of Leslie and Mabel Cheek in 1929, Cheekwood is one of the finest examples of an American Country Place Era estate. Since being converted into a museum of art and botanical garden in 1960, Cheekwood has presented world-class art exhibitions, spectacular gardens and an historic estate unlike anything else. In summer 2010, Chihuli Glass had an exhibit on the grounds and inside the mansion and my sister and brother-in-law were here and we visited and I took pictures. Please visit my Galleries page to see some of those photos.
